Join us for the 2nd annual Pleasanton Double Road Race Dec 22, 2013
Christmas Road Mile Run/Walk - Bob Anderson's Kids Cup Mile - FUN! FUN! FUN!

The place where the new sport of Double Road Racing was born, Pleasanton was the site of the first-ever Double in America last Dec. 23.

This year – exactly one day short of the one-year anniversary of that historic date– the second annual Pleasanton Double takes to the streets of this beautiful city on the same flat and fast course. The 2013 Leader Board awards will be presented at this event, which also kicks off the 2014 season.

The much-anticipated film A Long Run will be premiered in Pleasanton. And, of course, the competition itself will be more exciting than ever. Believe it or not, Pleasanton used to be nicknamed “The Most Desperate Town in the West” when it was a haunt and refuge for bandits and desperadoes during the days of the California Gold Rush.  Main Street shootouts were not uncommon.

The competitors in the Pleasanton Double will participate in their own kind of Gold Rush. No bullets this time. Just beads of sweat on the brows of runners vying for the top prizes at the second Pleasanton Double. Be there!

"I loved the Double," says Cindy. "It was a very fun race. I plan to do it again," says Abel. "Will I run it again?...In a heartbeat!" stated Tim. "I loved every minute of it. This is a very unique event that I feel would be appealing to runners of all levels," said Tyson. "Really enjoyed the recovery zone," stated Kevin.

Nearly 1,400 runners registered for the first Double Road Race Pleasanton and this year we are expecting to reach 2500.  Runners of all abilities are already making this a pre Christmas annual event.

"The Double Road Race is the only running event with a halftime. Run 10K first, rest and relax for about an hour, then run 5K," says Bob Anderson, who created the new sport Double Road Race.

"If you are not ready to 'Do The Double,' you can run or walk the Pleasanton Road Mile and brings the kids for the Bob Anderson's Kids Cup Mile. All kids get a medal, and this all benefits youth running," says Double operations manager Amanda Gardner.
